Why go
Queenstown sits on the edge of Lake Wakatipu with a mountain range behind it that someone had the nerve to name The Remarkables, and then it turned out to be accurate. Everything here is outdoors: the gondola up for the view, the road out to Glenorchy that looks fake, the boat across to a high country farm, and Milford Sound a long day away and worth every hour of it. It is also the adventure capital of the country if you want the bungee, and perfectly happy to be a place where you just walk and eat and look at things if you do not.
